Our Journey
Once known as the “Flying J’s,” Jeff and Nancy Johnston embarked on an extraordinary journey, crisscrossing the nation in a motorhome. Their adventures were driven by their work as insurance adjusters, specializing in catastrophe claims.
The Birth of a Craft
Nancy, blessed with a divine artistic gift, discovered a passion for leatherwork during their travels. Living in the motorhome provided her with the opportunity to craft beautiful leather earrings. Her creativity flourished when her daughter suggested designing leather feathers and incorporating them into horse tack. This innovative idea set a new trend in the western world.
A Rodeo Legacy
Nancy’s deep-rooted connection to the rodeo world spans several years and continues today, with her daughters and grandchildren actively participating in rodeo circuits.
Settling Down
After years of nomadic life, Jeff and Nancy decided to establish a more permanent home. They chose the picturesque Galveston Island, a decision that would prove pivotal for their future.
Growth and Expansion In Galveston
Nancy’s custom leather tack business thrived. Inspired by Nancy’s work, Jeff developed an interest in leatherwork. He now crafts custom carved leather items, which Nancy incorporates into her projects.
A New Direction
While Nancy initially enjoyed creating leather tack sets for the Western world, her true passion was to create unique leather fashion items. This led to a significant shift in their business, which is now primarily focused on crafting custom bags, necklaces, belts, and other unique fashion items.
